Important notice: Play chess right on the beach from 26 August 2008. We are moving to Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club which is located on the corner of Broadbeach Blvd and Chelsea Avenue at Broadbeach ( We have organised Surfers Paradise Open 2007 and Broadbeach Cup 2008 at this venue). On Tuesday, 05/08/2008 starts August Rapid tournament with 2 games each week and time control 25 minutes + 5 seconds increment for 3 weeks until 19/08/2008. Everyone welcome. Games start at 7.PM, see: results after 4 rounds. 1st Prize $50 / 2nd $20 and Under 1000 / 1st $20 / 2nd $10

GM Dejan Antic won Surfers Paradise Open 2007.
GM Roland Schmaltz and Moulthun Ly tied for second place.
Craig Stewart won the Under 1600 Division and $500 prize.
Soo-Burrowes Eliot won the Under 1000 Division and XBOX 360 .
